Campus Phones
The consultant desks at the labs and libraries are equipped with a campus phone. Additionally, a list phone numbers for the campus phones stationed in the labs/libraries can be found in the consultant cabinet. Most inter-Consultant communication can and should be done through Slack. However, from time to time, you will use the campus phone as it occasionally gets calls.
Please be sure you are answering the lab and library phones professionally. You must state both your name and location when you answer the phone (for example, “Social Sciences 1 computer lab, this is Sally, how may I help you?”).
The campus phones are to be used primarily for business purposes. However, you may allow a customer to make a short (less than 3 minutes) local or on campus call if they have a valid reason. Please refrain from making personal phone calls from work unless it is an emergency.
Note that after the alarm system is disarmed or during a false alarm, the phone does not work for a short time. There is no dial tone and calls cannot be made. This is normal; it is not necessary to report a Facilities/Class issue in the Support Request System.
Using The Campus Phone System
| To call | Dial |
| Campus offices | ‘9’ then 4 digit extension |
| Campus residences | ‘2’ then 4 digit extension |
| Off campus, local numbers | ‘6’ then 7 digit extension |
| Emergency | ‘911’ |
*Note: If you are not near a campus phone and need to reach staff, just dial 459-xxxx for all numbers that have the extension 9, and 502-xxxx for all numbers that have the extension 2. All Learning Technologies numbers are area code 831.
If the problem is of an administrative nature (e.g. need an alarm code, belligerent customer, or a situation that you don’t feel comfortable dealing with), follow the appropriate Emergency Call Contact list.
