Sub-Shifts & Obtaining Security Information
If you take a sub request for someone you may need to obtain the alarm code for that lab. If it is before 5PM on a weekday, usually the best way to get the needed codes is to call the Lab Operations Manager, then the Student Lab Managers. If it is outside this time range you can call any of the Student Lab Managers. Remember to leave messages everywhere you call. If you cannot get in contact with anyone, you may send an email to consmgr@ucsc.edu giving us a time when we can contact you. Do not try to obtain the alarm codes from another Consultant.
Because email is an insecure medium, securitymedium security codes must NEVER be transmitted over email. Alarm codes and Omnilock codes are restricted information and are not to be shared with anyone, including other consultants. Codes are NOT to be passed out by anyone except the Learning Technologies Management team. Violation of this policy will result in disciplinary action, including possible termination of employment.
It is very important to give yourself time to obtain these alarm codes. Be aware that it is your responsibility to obtain any necessary security information at least 24 hours in advance of needing it.
