Noise Levels

Most labs can never be as quiet as libraries, but they should also not be loud. Excessive talking should be discouraged, whether in-person, groups, or on cell phones. There should be no audible music in the lab at any time. The lab is a place to work; it is not a place for a group to get together to talk. Therefore, anyone not using a workstation or quietly studying should be asked to politely leave the lab if they are observed to be disruptive. The Student Consultant on duty should also avoid loud speech– do not yell across the lab at someone, but rather approach them professionally.
